FOUNDATION CHURCH

Foundation Church was originally started in September 2011 as a campus of the now dissolved Mars Hill Church. Pastor Scott Mitchell led the original church plant from our ‘sending church’ Mars Hill Church Shoreline (Now, Sound City Bible Church). Originally meeting as a set up/tear down church at the Everett Community College, we acquired the historic Washington National Guard building in downtown Everett (our current meeting space) in January 2013.

Throughout 2013 the Armory building underwent renovations to make it a suitable place to hold church services and provide all the amenities required for general church operations. The Armory building officially opened as the permanent home for our church in January 2014.

With the closure of Mars Hill Church in December 2014, we became an independent church and changed our name to Foundation Church.

As Foundation Church we have been blessed to serve the Everett and Snohomish County communities in many ways including ongoing relationships with the Pregnancy Resource Center of Snohomish County, The U.S. Marine Corps Toy’s for Tot’s Program and Compassion International. We are members of Sojourn Network, a network of churches committed to planting and supporting ‘Healthy Churches and Healthy Pastors’ in the USA.

Foundation Church is served by a committed team of staff and lay elders. It is governed by a plurality of elders with different but complimentary gifts (Foundation Church By-Laws can be found here).

Pastors

Trevor Welch

Executive Pastor | Elder | Staff

Trevor was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana and raised in the Pacific Northwest. His dad was a Christian School principal and taught him much about what it means to serve the body of Christ. He graduated from Seattle Pacific University in 2004 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. In his senior year at SPU he met his wife, Linzi. They were married about a year later. After a period of infertility, by God’s grace, they were able to have twins, Ethan and Morgan.

He began attending Mars Hill Church in 2001 where he had served in a variety of capacities until being called by God to eldership after Foundation Church was established in 2014. God has given him a heart to love, lead, and shepherd the people of Foundation Church, and Linzi eagerly shares in God’s calling on his life and truly loves the Church.

Jeff Gwin

Jeff Gwin

Biblical Living Pastor | Elder

Jeff was born and raised in Washington State. He graduated from the University of Washington (Go Huskies) and works downtown Seattle in the Information Technology field as a Program Manager. He met his wife serving at Mars Hill and has two beautiful children, Grace and Jacob.

He was called to Eldership in 2013 at Mars Hill Church and now serves as Elder at Foundation Church. His passions include camping with his family, ATV-ing, watching football, and eating smoked brisket.

Caleb Jacobson

Worship Director | Staff

Caleb grew up in the Midwest. He was raised in a ministry household and was saved at a young age. He started leading worship for his youth group when he was sixteen, and has been leading worship nearly every Sunday since.

He married his wife, Rynn, on the Mississippi in 2010. At the end of 2013 they threw everything they owned into a storage unit and drove out to Washington so Caleb could start an unpaid internship. Shortly after the fourteen-month internship ended, Caleb was hired on full-time at Foundation Church. He counts it a great blessing to hear the people of God lift their voices, in unison, to sing praise and proclaim truth every Sunday.

Caleb enjoys music, hiking, cinema, and delicious food.

Erica Keough

Office Administrator | Staff

Erica was born and raised in the Snohomish area, and loves the Pacific Northwest! She married her husband, Chase in 2008 and they now have an 18 month old son, Daniel. She served as an administrative intern at Mars Hill Church for about a year before being offered a staff position at Foundation Church. She enjoys continually learning and growing in her position, while serving the church.
